The start of a new series, Stability. There will only be two panels in this series. Is that long enough to be a series? I'm not sure, maybe I should just say first painting for a diptych.
If you've been following my 30 Paintings in 30 Days I researched the meaning to different colors. The Stability series is based on Red. I think of fire and excitement when I think of red, but Kadinsky associated red with lively and confident. I never thought about red and confidence before, but I have noticed that a lot of women in the business world wear red when they are featured speakers at a conference.
Other interpretations associate red with survival, self-sufficiency, and stability. The later became my title for this series. I feel like the black lines added some playfulness to this painting, what do you think?

DeleteLovely new colour scheme today! I love using red in my art, it does command the attention.
ReplyDeleteWearing red for difficult occasions does help me feel more confident. Interesting!
I've never studied psychology but it is interesting how interpretations of color do seem right once I read about them. I wonder if it is cultural and the same color means something else entirely in different cultures. I suspect yes.
DeleteWOW! so much going on, and it all comes together so beautifully! Looking forward to tomorrow :)
ReplyDeleteI look forward to sharing the diptych. Glad you like it.
DeleteI love this April! Red is also the color of LUCK according to the Chinese.
