Perception II by April M. Rimpo |
My husband enjoys astronomy so I get to see a lot of pictures of celestial objects: galaxies, nebula, black holes, star clusters. It surprises me how the filter astronomers use on their images to emphasize different aspects of a celestial object cause different parts of the sky to appear as different colors. As I worked on this painting my goal was to use color to simulate this same effect.

Nice!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sheila.
DeleteI love that you are dissecting your total piece - very unique! You keep us guessing...
ReplyDeleteI also love the galactic quality.
Thank you. Some days I wonder whether I can keep this approach going, some days are more of a struggle than others to remember that while keeping them abstract they still need to fit together in the end.
DeleteI am happy to enjoy the paintings as abstracts and this one is lovely. I particularly like the mesh-like netting lines in the background.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear that, Rolina. I was afraid the mesh would distract but I think it has ended up having an integrating quality. I love the unexpected.
DeleteVery cool abstract....KMW
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kay. Tomorrow you get to see the over-arching composition that this series results in.
